History of hall improvement work since the current Trustees took over in Oct 2010.

June 2022 Repainted the entrance corridor inside & out, the Bishop room and touch-up elsewhere.

Apr 2020

Replastered the entrance corridor ceiling.

 

Replastered and redecorated the changing rooms.

May 2019 New furniture - 12 folding tables and 69 stacking chairs to replace the non-folding/stacking wooden ones.

Oct 2018

New flooring - Wilton axminster carpet in the main hall and Bishop room plus Karndean oak planking for the dance floor. Thanks to both for excellent prices and service.
Sep 2018 Major interior refurbishment, with new moulded panelling in the main hall, radiator covers and painting throughout the hall, bar and Bishop room in shades of grey.

Feb 2018

Removal of a brick pillar and installation of a 7.6m steel beam, to open up the main hall and give a more flexible space.

Mar 2017

A spring clean, some re-painting, repairs and improvements.
Mar 2016 A quick re-paint of high wear areas and some repairs.
Nov 2015 New five-bar gate and pedestrian gate by back door. New speakers in main hall. Lots of maintenance jobs done.
Sep 2015 Upgraded to an HD projector - fantastic picture (the rugby was just a coincidence!).
Jun 2015 Just added a new LED light to the entrance corridor, which can be dimmed for parties.
Feb 2015 The work is complete and the hall looks fantastic, much as it would have done when it was built. The original ceiling, new lights, more radiators and fresh painting throughout have truly transformed the hall.
Jan 2015

Work is scheduled which will remove the suspended ceiling in the main hall, renew the original vaulted ceiling and fit new lights throughout the hall. Starts 18 Jan and finishes 31 Jan.

18 Jan - volunteers removed the 1980's suspended ceiling to reveal the original 1920's ceiling for the first time in 40 years (approx).

Mar 2014 01Mar was a work day at the hall. We removed old trees and added new fencing and hedging in the garden - now much tidier and brighter. Plus many other jobs and lunch!
Jan 2014 New back door and ramp. Quite a few hall hires this month.
Nov 2013 Fitted a new alarm system.
Sep 2013 Finished attic insulation, fitted a new floodlight and completed some painting & cleaning. Thanks to all the volunteers.
Aug 2013 Completed the garden, new fence, turf laid. An excellent amenity for events.
May 2013

Wi-Fi, the hall now has access to the internet!

Apr 2013 The new roof is now complete, together with insulation and guttering. Thanks to Biffa Award and the FHVS for the funds plus Phoenix Roofing for a great job.
Feb 2013

New tables and chairs bought for the Snooker Room. New plates and bowls bought for the kitchen. Corridor and boiler room tidied up and new shelving fitted.

Having sorted insurance, contract and Building Regulations, we expect work on the new roof to start w/c 04 March and to last for 4-6 weeks. Hall open as usual throughout.

Oct 2012 The snooker room and kitchen refurbishments are almost finished - just a few small jobs left. If you have not seen them recently, do drop by one Friday evening.
Sep 2012 We have been conditionally awarded the grant for the roof. The main condition is that the FHVS raise 10% of the amount, which is now in progress. Please buy some raffle tickets!
Jul 2012 Cavity walls insulated! Snooker room in progress. Kitchen refurbishment coming in August. Awards For All grant of £10,000 has been fully spent and is now closed.
Jun 2012 Snooker room refurbishment - started. Cavity wall insulation ordered.
Apr 2012 New consumer unit installed in bar. Bar redecorated. AGM was held on 20th.
Nov 2011 The main hall was repainted (by volunteers) and the electrics updated
Sep 2011 A new gas tank and boiler were installed. 11 windows replaced
Jun 2011 Awarded a grant of £10,000 by Awards for All (Big Lottery)
Oct 2010 Trustees elected for the first time in many years
